We registered in the morning at the Petone Working Men’s Club and then went to Juniors Kustom Rides at 2.00pm where a number of cars were being built or restored.

 Thursday 24th February

Today we headed for Southwards Car Museum in Paraparaumu. 10:30am starting Petone Working Men’s Club. The museum has over 350 vehicles, three aircraft as well as other exhibits including bikes and motorcycles.  The collection began in 1956 by Sir Len Southward and his wife Lady Vera Southward and is housed in a purpose built building featuring 6000sqm exhibition hall, engineering workshop, gift shop, and restaurant in six hectares of park-like grounds.

 Friday 25th February

Cruised to Masterton leaving the Petone Working Men’s Club 10.00am we past many schools on route to Masterton with kids lining the roads. The CBD was transformed into an American movie set many came dressed as their favorite American movie character.  The Tui girls were on the lookout for those who got behind the theme and had some Tui giveaways

From 2:00pm we started heading home to freshen and get ready for the Jackson Street Fulton Hogan Friday Night Cruise.  The cruise started at 6.30pm the street and it was amazing with crowds lining the side to view the cars the café’s and pubs open to serve participants and public in an amazing atmosphere.  We met up with John and Heather and went to a restaurant for a coffee and snack. The street was a buzz with people and it was wonderful to be part of their excitement.

 Saturday 26th February

The Country Fair stalls were limited to mainly selling car paraphernalia and open 10.00am – 4.00pm.  There was great entertainment for adults in the form of bands and dancers with plenty of activities and attractions for the kids. This gave us an opportunity to go shopping.

At 7.00pm the Saturday night party started at the Petone Working men’s club with the main act being the “Beat Girls”. We got home stuffed at about 11pm.

The organization was outstanding with Police, Rotary Council and Fulton Hogan Staff helping out.

John Rae the organizer held a “minute’s silence” for those in Christchurch and put up a $1000 for a donation this was followed by a baker Janus and Classic car insurance doing the same.
