This is a huge Meteor Crater some 50,000 years ago was suddenly lit by a light of a meteor, this was probably broken from the core of an asteroid during an ancient collision some half billion years ago. Hurtling at bout 30,000 to 40,000 miles an hour it was intercepted with earth. In seconds it passed through our atmosphere with almost no loss of velocity or mass.
